What is Hysteroscopy?
Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows a gynecologist to look inside the uterus, without making any incisions through a telescope (znwjchu).
When is Hysteroscopy indicated?
Hysteroscopy is used to diagnose and treat the following conditions:
- Infertility.
- Abnormal uterine bleeding.
- Postmenopausal bleeding.
- polyps
- Fibroids
- Septa
- Blocked Fallopian tubes
- Adhesions
- Guided biopsy
- TCRE (Trans Cervical Resection of Endometrium).
How is Hysteroscopy performed?
Hysteroscopy for diagnostic purposes is done as office procedure. If we wish to combine surgery, then Hysteroscopy is done under general / local anesthesia. Hysteroscope is a long & narrow tube, which is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterine cavity. Images are transmitted through camera to a screen. Uterus is distended with a sterile fluid, which also removes blood and mucus.
Fine operative instruments can be inserted through side ports. Hysteroscopy is often combined with laparoscopy

Are there any risks associated with Hysteroscopy?

What is the recovery period following Hysteroscopy?
Hysteroscopy is done on a “day care” basis. Patients may experience mild abdominal discomfort after surgery, which lasts for few hours.
In most cases, patients can resume work on the next day of surgery.
